THE RAILROAD MUSEUM IS LOOKING FOR A FEW GOOD VOLUNTEERS
 

Come join the dedicated team of 13 paid staff and over 125 volunteers at the Nevada State Railroad Museum! There are many interesting opportunities available for prospective volunteers:

  • Admissions Desk Harry the  Tour Guide

    • Greet visitors, answer questions, and sell tickets

    • Promote memberships and volunteer opportunities

  • Museum Store

    • Assist customers

    • Conduct sales

    • Prepare and arrange merchandise

    • Assist off-site sales during special events

  • Collections Management

    • Inventory collections

    • Enter information into computerized collections database

  • Education

    • Provide tours

    • Work in the open collections storage area and in the depot greeting visitors, answering questions, and selling tickets

    • Assist with teaching

    • Assist with publishing newsletter and informational materials

  • Special Events

    • Assist at public events (including giving rides on the handcar!)

    • Photograph and videotape programs and events

    • Work as a member of the steam train or motor car crew Bill video taping a program

    • Assist with cleaning exhibits (including the locomotives!)
